Just wanted to send some updates/reminders about our meeting this coming Monday, January 25th at 6:30pm!
Location: Studio R in Fremont (315 N 36th st, suite 201), the corner of 36th & Phinney. You’ll need to walk up a set of stairs on the left side of the entrance.
Topic: “Stopping The Blur!“. Anyone who has spent any concerted effort photographing toddlers knows that you can get a lot of: a) the back of their little heads, b) blurry pictures, c) blurry pictures of the back of their little heads! Guest speaker Kathryn Barnard is going to share some of her secrets from her world of commercial photography of how she gets great images out of the most unpredictable models of all- little kids!
Kathryn has worked with major brands such as The Gap, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and McDonalds’. I met her recently as she was shooting the Fall 2010 catalog for See Kai Run shoes, shooting a lineup of 20 babies and toddlers in one afternoon! Amazing!
Please bring with you:
1. Your printed photos! We’ll have circle time to discuss our portrait assignments: “Holiday Traditions” and “10am” (an indoor light portrait). Please bring your printed photos to share with the group! If you are new to the group and haven’t had a chance to do the photo assignment, bring prints of your favorite pictures you’ve taken lately to pass around to the group. You can also upload them your photos to our group Flickr Feed . (Thanks to Genny and Sara for adding your pics this week! They are gorgeous!!)
2. Your camera. You’ll want your camera on hand to look at the settings and for practice. We will have a VERY adorable toddler model for demonstration purposes (I know he’s adorable, I met him at Swedish about 17 months ago… 🙂 ) .
3. A floor pillow, if you don’t like sitting directly on the floor. Some seats are available in the studio, priority will be given to the preggies.
I hope you can make it, please RSVP to the e-vite here so we have a headcount for our speaker.
See you all on Monday!
